Does anyone have any insight on these generators? This unit has been in the corner of a storage area we’ve rented for 20 years and I don’t recall ever hearing it run. I believe it’s been disconnected for a long time, most likely was installed in the late 80’s when the building was constructed. I check the oil and it’s pristine, engine rotates, I don’t believe there was anything really wrong with it, just was never used and forgotten about. It’s possible that the building may get torn down in the near future and was wondering if this unit would make a good house backup generator, it seems to be in an outdoor factory enclosed yet it’s inside the building, vented to the outside. It seems to be in very good condition otherwise with I believe very few hours on it. I don’t know much about generators, so any comments on if this unit could be used for a house generator or it’s approximate value would be helpful-
Thank you

Hard to squeeze back there for better pics- can’t get in close enough to see any tags on the engine, looks like a two cylinder diesel with a built in fuel tank below the unit-
That looks like an air cooled Deutz engine. That would be a very desirable setup for somebody. Deutz is a well respected german manufacturer. Diesel is a great standby fuel and you have a housed unit complete with transfer switch. 1800 rpm, commercial quality unit. It looks all original, even original paint on the filters. Definitely a keeper.
Thanks for the reply. Could this be setup for a typical residential home? Not sure from the first pic in the post if it’s somehow setup for 3phase power, although I see single phase 220 in the last row of the label-
Thanks again!
Chris
Yes, it can absolutely be used as emergency power for a house. 10kw, 240vac, 1 ph. This is a much better generator than the run of the mill home standby, 3600 rpm, lawn mower engine generators being offered today.
Yeah the 1st pic label says Factory Tested for 120/240 single phase.
I might be inclined to clean it up and then possibly sell it especially if further research suggests repair parts are hard to come by. It does look to be something of a beast, and also maybe not a weatherproof enclosure? Hard to tell from the pics.
Awesome thank you for the info, going to see what I can do to get my hands on it and make some use of it instead of it sitting there until the bulldozer or scrapper comes along!
