My generator is only producing 120v. Help please

I have a 13KW natural gas Northstar Generator ( model number 165955) that just developed a problem.
The generator is about 6 to 7 years old and at best maybe 200 hours operation.
The engine runs perfectly fine, and was recently serviced at NorthernTool, oil change, overall speed adjusted…etc

I connect the generator to my home though a generator inlet box wired to the panel ( with a mechanical interlock in place)
Yesterday when i went to use my generator i noticed that my ACs were not kicking in.
After a little investigation it appears i’m only getting 120v power output vs the full 240…hence why the 240 devices will not power on.

On the NEMA 60 amp plug
Between the left hot and neutral I’m getting 120v
Between right hot and neutral I’m getting 10v

Similar on the 120v plugs. I have a total of 8 x120v outlets on the generator.
The 4 on the left have 120v
The 4 on the right - nothing ……i mean there may be the same 10v but not working.

I’ve reset the main breaker on the generator, but that hasn’t helped.
I have also read that generators can stop putting out power through lost magnetism….and that apparently one of the tricks is to spin a drill backwards while plugged into one of the dead outlets to try and “re magnetize” the coil…..did that....no joy.

I don’t mind bringing it down to Northstar but pretty certain they will have it for a month and am looking for ideas i can try myself before i bring it down to them.

Appreciate any advice.
thanks
Mac

Link to manual attached if it helps anyone point me in the right direction

Update. After a little more research i found an article indicating that a faulty capacitor may be the reason for no voltage Sadly not the problem here. I removed the wires from the caps...discharged them and both tested to 35uF.. in the manual it states that one is 35uF and the other is 31uF. Im assuming its not the capacitors. Again. Appreciate any guidance on what to test next.

I brought it to northern tool to check out an odd noise it was making intermittently. They pulled apart all the visible things but never did find it. They said it was running a little fast and make a speed adjustment. I don’t mind bringing it back to northern tool. Only issue is last time they had it was for almost 2 months. And being in Houston- we’re not out of hurricane season for another 6 weeks. I’m going to do as you suggest and check the resistance and all the connectors. Hopefully something like a connector loose.
Would you know of any good videos to locate the specific wires I need to test for the windings? Thanks again. Mac.

Update.
pulled the plate off the generator to access the winding connectors. Turns out all of mine are routed to the top on this generator so easy to work with. I had a really loose wire. After some lock tight re torqueI fired it up again but still same issue. As I was flipping the breaker on and off though it would occasionally send power to the dead side. Thinking it might be the breaker I pulled the panel apart and sure enough I have some indication of a burnt connection. Which with a loose wire that makes sense. Hopefully I can find the replacement breaker and hopefully be back in business. Appreciate all the replies as I’d probably never find the loose wire or think to check the breaker.

well the good news is the breakers are easy to replace!
and you can order those parts tuesday 8 am on the phone from north star.
1-800-270-0810
make sure to have the generator part number and serial number handy!
should be a silver tag!

look in the manual page 41 and the parts diagram will show that part call out number as #9.
the part number is 783966
a bit of credit card action and parts will be on the way.

and make sure to snap plenty of pix and tape or zip tie all of the wires together for each post on the 4 wires to the breaker posts!
trust me you want to make sure they go back on the right posts!
lol!

Good job on finding the issue!
check all other wires and tighten every thing in there! while you have the covers off!
Appreciate the advice.
I managed to find the breaker online at Arkansas Outdoor Power Equipment. Will also call Northern tool tuesday. its only a 15 dollar breaker so if i end up with 2....no big deal...which ever comes 1st.
Good idea on the zip ties...... these things do shake around...and i've already started going through each nut and bolt!.

Will post when its all up and running.
Great forum - appreciate all the advice and suggestions.

On another note.....when this thing died - i went ahead and ordered a Pulsar 12KW dual fuel as i had no idea if the fix would be easy or quick. I have a smaller 3500 watt spare that I've had for 20 years. I figure a larger back up is worth the piece of mind. I've helped about 5 friends connect these 12KW pulsars to their homes. ( even converted a few to Nat gas with Nash conversion kits ) ..everyone seems really happy with the results so far..... Just figured to give a testimonial!

Cheers
Mac
