If you plan to connect the generator to house wiring then you may want to prefer floating neutral generator models as the connection (transfer switch/interlock) would be easier/cheaper. Vendors make both floating and bonded neutrals models so check carefully. I have good experience with A-IPower GXS7100iRD with floating neutral in the power range you are considering. It's a dual fuel inverter generator and quiet.

To minimize customer support issues with tier 2 generator vendors, I buy from Costco which has much better customer support than the vendors. My experience with Costco shows they get much more responsive support from the vendors than I can by contacting the vendors directly. It's also easier to return to Costco if necessary.
Costco always seems to be a pretty solid bet. I looked at this unit and it seems that it is just a tiny bit smaller version of the SUA7600iED I already have my eye on. I see it goes on sale from time to time for $300 off as well. If I saw it for $1000 right now I would have ordered this. Thanks for pointing it out as it appears to be a Costco only model. The SUA7600iED is also about 10 dB quieter according to the specs on these things.

I wonder if it is worth paying a tad extra for a few hundred extra watts with the SUA7600iED or not. Also, I see you can buy an Asurion service plan through Amazon for about $130. Is that worthwhile? How do claims work as well with one of these? Do you ship it or take it to a local place? I am not against this plan but want to make sure I can get it fixed locally. I have seen others that simply buy you a new unit as well.

That mode looks good except it has bonded neutral. I doubt you will be able to get any tier 2 generators fixed locally even with Asurion.

As mentioned below, it looks to be a floating neutral. Would you just not pay for the extra insurance if you bought it from Amazon? Is that basically a waste of money and a trip to the nearest big city (~100 miles in any direction for me) to get it repaired? This would likely involve TWO trips (dropoff and pickup )so not real convenient at all.

always verify the bonding status on any generator before connecting to any devices or inlets.

most of the time the open frame construction generators are neutral bonded to the earth ground and generator housing to the generator frame.
the most common places to look for bonding are the end bell, behind the outlets, and chassis to the generator housing.

the closed frame and suitcase generators most of the time are unbonded.
but verify each generator before use.

if you make any modifications make sure to label the generator as modified and how and what was modified.

I have seen mention of bonding the neutral and ground in the cord or adapter used for the generator so nothing permanent is done. I guess if unbonding that is a different story as you have to modify the generator. I guess most of the exposed material is plastic on the closed frame units so that is why.

My mistake, I just went on their web site looking for 7600W inverter and only one there is this:

It seems odd that SUA7600iED is not on their web site.

I wouldn't. Instead I would run the heck out of it right away. If it fails you can return it before the Amazon refund deadline. If it survives then the it's less likely to fail in the near term.

Interesting.... The tiny bit smaller model suggested for me from Costco is also not on their site. It seems they make them for certain sellers specifically.

For me, that is a show stopper. Having a gen that is made for a particular vendor could limit the availability of parts, service, and support depending on how much the gen differs from the other standard models made by the company.

I would think that many parts are common with just a few differences between models. I would probably be most concerned about the generator and inverter itself rather than the engine-related components. It looks like the AI Power gets mostly good reviews. Most of the bad reviews look like they are related to storage issues with fuel in the carb, resulting in them not starting after several months. This isn't the fault of the generator.
