How to increase generator fuel capacity?

I have a Winco Dyna 9000 Model HPS9000E/A.

The fuel tank is only 4.5 gallons and the only time I've needed to use the generator was this past week. It ran through the tank of gas in about 5.5 hours...maybe 6. I would like to work out a larger fuel supply for it to get at least 10 hours and more would be better. Planning on making a small enclosure for it under a lean to off the garage so it should stay in place and not have to be moved around any. I had thought before looking into it there should be plenty of options of fuel tanks with pet cocks of about whatever volume a person might want but so far have found that not to be the case. Best so far is either a 7 gallon or 5 gallon

and there are a lot of selections of that type but so far not of 10, 12, 15... gallon. There are probably threads about this topic in this forum but I'm just tossing my position out there to see if people can direct me to good threads or/and make particular suggestions. Would it be best to just get rid of the 4.5 gallon and get maybe a 12-15 gallon somewhere? The 7 gallon doesn't seem quite large enough.

Also not having easy access to non-ethanol gas I was planning to add Sta-bil to every tank hoping that would make it last a long time and be good for the carburetor. Use that for lawn mowers and snow blowers also. Is that a good way to deal with the ethanol issue?

Thank you for any help or suggestions!

I'm with GenKnot. Convert it to LP gas and get a couple of 30lb tanks to swap-between, or larger (100lb is next) as you might need.

Propane stores "forever" vs gasoline.

Were it me, thats exactly the route I'd take. I think you'd find the 7 gallon to be a good improvement but in your case it sounds like more is better. Any auto racing shops in your locale? They've usually a large amount of tank size options you can look into. Some are apt to be able to custom make a tank to your requirements.

Yes, absolutely(!) use a fuel stabilzer. Myself I prefer and recommend the blue marine brand from Sta-Bil but I also throw Seafoam in there with every tank.

Maybe you could explain to us why 6 hour run time isn’t enough for you? During an emergency it’s best to run a generator sparingly because you don’t know where the next fill up is coming from or even available. Simply shut down the generator overnight if possible and start it up again at breakfast time, after refueling and checking/changing the oil. Portable generators aren’t designed to run for many hours anyways. However, several inverter generators use fuel pumps and many of those are easily retrofitted with extended run systems simply because they pump fuel. Gravity feed systems are dangerous because there’s little/no control over fuel flow, which is a fire hazard.
Fill us in on your need to run a generator for extended hours….
