Have a homelite CS 40 and installed a new carb WT224-1, original was WT224, but the choke butterfly on the replacment positioned 180 from the old one so it moves opposite from the old carb. So to choke you push in the knob instead of pulling out like it originally was.

I cant tell from the pic to be sure, is there anyway the choke arm lever on the replacement carb can be removed and rotated 180 degrees? If you can and there's enough allowable room, possibly a fix.
I can see if I can move it 180, the other issue is my choke knob won't fit on the new choke shaft arm. A choke link kit came with the new carb but don't know how it attaches to the arm.

Hmm, I'm not familiar with that model saw, I'm unsure of what to tell you to help.
I went and snapped 2 pics from my Homelite, different model (XL-76) but maybe you'll see something to guide you in getting the link installed.
1st pic is choke off, 2nd with choke on.
