My Craftsman (Poulan) string trimmer has a Walbro WT-380 carb which I need to replace. According to Sears and Walbro, the direct replacement for that carb is a Walbro WT-639. The only problem is that the brass tube on the 380 carb that is attached to the tank suction tube is much smaller, (maybe 1.5mm) ID than the corresponding one on the 639 model which looks to be about 2.5mm.

The only two options that I can think of are either to find or make a reducing connector so that I can connect the small fuel line to a larger on and then to the carb, or to enlarge the hole in the tank and fish in a new fuel line and find a filter to fit it. I'm not sure if the tank could be sealed though.

I'm just looking for other ideas.
