Hi guys,

I recently posted a thread about my generator kicking out way too much AC voltage (360V), I fixed this by re-adjusting the governor tension screw.

The problem I have now is that say i calibrate the engine to do 220V AC at idle, as soon as i apply a load to the engine the voltage drops to say 190-200V AC depending on size of the load.

My question is this;
Am i supposed to set the idle voltage higher and let it set back down to 220V AC under load?
Or is this incorrect operation of the governor and it should be automatically keeping the 220V AC no-matter the size of the load?

Any advice would be great thanks!

So tested my other 1kw generator... seems this is pretty normal

So calibrated it so that under idle its around 280volts AC and under MAX load its about 200Volts AC ... gives a nice range around the right area.

Any tips or tricks, let me know!
