Welcome,
What I found online…. What’s the manual say? Maybe you can toggle between settings?

The XP9000iH comes with a push button start, an LCD display showing hours run, voltage output, and load level, etc….

I think I recall this being discussed before, but I don't remember where it is.

You can also get other meters. This one, as an example, has a battery and does not loose its runtime information when changing the battery per comments. There are others available too.

My cheap Wen DF1100 has a funky single gauge with a hard to press cycle button, but it gives cumulative hours. That is most important for maintenance. Right now, I am back to a spreadshett.

DuroMax support wrote that it should work the way you would expect: hrs:min for current runtime, hr for total runtime.
Mine doesn't. I wonder, whether there is a hidden dip switch or jumper they forget to set at the factory after runtime testing the generator to set it back to zero.
