Model number 46539 3500/4000 Champion Generator runs for 20 min and dies, it will start for about 20 seconds then die again. Carb is good, ran it through a sonic cleaner. Put spark tester on it and it drops spark and dies. By passed the oil level sensor and still does it. I regapped the coil and still no go. There is some type of computer board before it sends power to the coil. I can't find it on the champion power tools parts page.

Ok, the box I am talking about is the receiver for the remote start. Can I just unplug this and eliminate it as a possible problem? In theory, It would just leave the on off start switch and coil in the system. If it still acts up then I might have an intermittent coil issue?

I replaced the coil and it still dies after about 20 seconds.

also look for a chaffed wire or broken wire inside the insulation.
pin out with an ohm meter.

make sure the air gap is set right on the coil and the pickup.

what is the spark voltage?
use an air gap tester.
you did replace the spark cap and wire with the coil replacement right?
there has been some bad spark plug caps in the last 4 years...
bad casting in the dielectric caps. cracks that get carbon build up and cause flash over to ground on the spark.
