You can lower the sensitivity to incoming power quality on these UPS units either manually or using the software for them.
Mine only allow me to change the upper and lower voltage thresholds. I contacted tech support and this is their response:

Usually when a UPS is on battery power during generator operation it is because the generator is not putting out a stable AC frequency. The unit is designed to switch to battery [if] the input frequency slews at a rate greater than 0.5 Hz per second in order to protect your connected equipment. This protection can’t be disabled as it would expose your equipment to potential damage from poor quality power.

Part of the reason why I started to question whether an inverter would be better suited for the electronics, specifically the ones downstream of the UPSs.
