Looking to hire experienced generator techs in the South Central Louisiana area. Great pay plus benefits. SiriusUSA.com Please email me if interested! brent@siriusua.com
I know a few guys still working. What experience levels, are you looking for? A good level 4 EPG tech is going to be in the 75-100+ hr range, if your looking for someone that knows it from Fuel tank to the load an how all aspects influence the complete system. Or are you just looking for someone that can change oil ect, which is just a basic level one?
back in the day (early 1980's) one of the large gen mfg's were doing a hire fair..
they were paying $100k per year...
but out of that you needed to buy your own service truck and tools and were expected to pay for your own fuel as well...
lol
you ended up paying to work for them!!
the travel range was 500 miles!! radias!!
wow!!
and there was no route so you could have 2 jobs back to back 1000 miles away!
you end up with more travel than actual work...
the navy had a better deal! lol!!
they would even pay for your travel... GRIN!
iowagold, you're complaining, yes? LOL Lots of techs lived just fine on that deal. LOL
You say: "navy had a better deal" Really? LOL You know this how? LOL Please explain. LOL
As a 1960's, four year military vet with a speciality in air traffic control, and doing time in Nam, you could say I'm highly skeptical. The military consisted then of either conscripted 1A's or 'lifers'. Much better to work for a unionized large company with negotiated benefits, or, better, work for a college degree.
Military better deal? 1967 I enlisted in the Marines, $78/mo. 18 weeks later I was in sunny SE Asia, PFC by then with a $8 monthly increase. Oh yeah, there was hostile fire pay and also ....hazardous duty pay... which I qualified for as a HE specialist. I think that brought things up to around $140. Hope they pay the kids better now.
@exmar, my work associate was ex-marine. We unknowingly crossed paths in Nam when I was involved in directing air support for a company under fire. 20 yrs later wound up besties working same job with same company.
Through Ed I gained so much respect for you grunts. I had it easy by comparison, sucking beer at night, Ed was taking hits. Crazy war.
