Chicago electric generator, 66604

Hello,
I bought this used, worked fine when I got it but looked like some of the wiring had been modified. Anyway, got it out to start it and battery was dead, put new batt on it, terminals were bacwards, had to swap pos and neg, neg needed streached a little but nothing crazy. Anyway, negative ring terminal had broken, fixed that but noticed that some other wires(low amperage) had been spliced in an amateur way. One is a purple wire that goes to control box, have an educated guess as to where it may have been connected. Also have a pair of small black wires that go underneath some metal shielding on motor, one wire has a crimp on female quick connect, other has a crimp that has been cut off. Fwiw, generator doesn’t adjust rpm for load connected to it whereas before it did. I think this is related to purple wire. Does anyone have a harbour freight generator, 6500 watt, with electric stArt that I can compare it to? Model66604. Thank you
