Pressure vs Flow Rate

New to this forum so hello to all.

My apologizes if this seems like a basic question. I have an old Craftsman electric pressure washer which is rated 1200psi @ 1.6gpm flow rate, my actual readings are 900psi @ 1.51gpm flow rate.

I would like to upgrade the spray gun and increase the pressure slightly and wanted to know if increasing the pressure (via reduced nozzle size) effects the flow rate or does the flow rate stay constant regardless of pressure?

Any information would be appreciated.
