I'd like to get opinions on how to make a Generac GP15000E - 15,000 Watt generator quieter. Would and additional muffler be too much back pressure ? This is a big generator for camping primitive, I'd buy a smaller generator but I don't want the extra equipment to maintain.
Big & Loud, A friend of mine has one of those generators and a 25 gallon gas can on wheels to go with it.
He claims his wife bought it during a long outage.
The only way to shut it up is to move it into the woods and add long cords or add a baffle between it and you like a sheet of plywood. Most of the noise doesn't;t come out of the exhaust. I would go out on a limb and just buy a stock motorcycle muffler. They are all over ebay, not expensive, and not very restrictive. You will have to fab an adapter though. It will still be loud but not as loud.
